2026 has started in style for many of our SFT students with several aviation milestones having been achieved already this year. We are proud of every pilot that passes through our hangar doors and it gives us great pleasure to share it with you. Please join with us in congratulating all of them on their outstanding achievements.
Dresden - CPL

Huge congratulations to Dresden who achieved his CPL, our first flight test pass of the year. Dresden has been at Sydney Flight Training since the beginning of his PPL training and has worked hard through his command building and theory exams before progressing onto the Piper Dakota with Instructors Josh and Kate. Despite enduring some poor weather, Dresden and Examiner Steve were lucky to have a beautiful, warm CAVOK day for the flight up to Maitland and Cessnock. Congratulations Dresden, and we wish you all the best as you begin your Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating training.
Geordie - First Solo

Well done to Geordie who completed his First Solo! Geordie has been training primarily with Instructor Kayla and enjoys flying twice per week. Geordie and Kayla set off at 7am with perfect ATIS conditions - wind calm and CAVOK - for a few dual circuits before Kayla stepped out and let Geordie take to the skies for himself. We’re excited to see Geordie progress through the rest of the RPL syllabus.
Ashwin - PPL

Well done to Ashwin who passed his PPL flight test! Ashwin has been working hard towards his PPL with Instructor Kayla since the flyaway last year, which was his main motivation for wanting to upgrade his RPL nav endorsement to a PPL. Ashwin and examiner Steve had perfect weather for their flight up to Cessnock where he passed with flying colours. Well done Ashwin, we wish you many blue skies with your new licence
Daniel Gray - Design Feature Training Endorsement
Well done to Daniel who recently passed his design feature training endorsement with us! Dan flew the mighty JKE with examiner Pete on a beautiful day where they headed out to the training area and into the circuit at Camden, where Dan taught Pete how to correctly manipulate the Manual Propeller Pitch Control system as well as operate the retractable undercarriage. We wish Dan the best of luck in his future endeavours as an instructor.
Aman Lakhwani – IFR

Congratulations to Aman who recently passed his Multi-Engine Instrument Rating with us! Aman has been working hard at Sydney Flight Training the past few months, initially earning his CPL followed bu his multi-engine class rating and then moving onto the Instrument training with Instructors Mark and Kayla. Aman is now moving back to his home country Hong Kong to pursue his aviation career and we wish him the best of luck with safe skies and happy landings
Matt - First Solo

Congratulations to Matt for recently achieving his First Solo flight with us! Matt has experience flying gliders with the Airforce cadets but made his transition to powered aircraft last year where he wishes to pursue his licence and move into a career in aviation. Matt took to the circuit with instructor Kayla and although it was a hot day handled the aircraft well and headed back for one circuit on his own. We look forward to seeing Matt progress through to his RPL in the coming months.
